Stanmore Wyverns with confirmation they will fill the last available spot at the Asia Pacific Tennis League Finals commencing the second week of the Australian Open.

Not only are the finals played during the Australian Open ATL Playoffs but also offer $110,000 in prize money, with prize money paid to every team based on their finishing position.

Team Manager Nicole Kriz was ecstatic when informed that her girls were given the opportunity to compete in the finals “Being number one alternates we had our fingers crossed we would get a call up to come play, we are all so excited to be given this opportunity, definitely a great start to the year. ”

The Wyverns have a star studded team, headlined by Casey Dellacqua who is currently competing in the open, and will team up with Ash Barty as the number 5 seeds in the women’s doubles. Team manager Kriz is following Dellacqua’s results with a lot of interest to see if she is available to potentially play for the Wyverns in the finals.

Kriz also sees this as a great opportunity for the younger girls in her team to experience the atmosphere of playing at a grand slam venue during a slam, as well as having the likes of Dellacqua and Adamczak mentoring the girls. “It’s an invaluable experience for our younger girls to come play a team’s event during a slam and have Monique and Casey in the team with them, I know they are so grateful for the opportunity, and they will remember it for the rest of their careers.”

ATL Finals commence Monday 20th January.
