Orange resident Barry Spilstead had a special message to spread when he took part in the recent AO Blitz activation at Parkes.

Spilstead, 67, travelled to the activation to help raise awareness for one of the AO Blitz charity partners, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

It is a cause close to Spilstead’s heart.

In the past 10 years he has twice beaten prostate cancer, only to be diagnosed with it for a third time earlier this year.

Spilstead remains positive about his fight.

“I’m keeping cheerful about it, it doesn’t mean I am going to pass away,” he said.
