Returning to the Perth Arena as Hyundai Hopman Cup defending champions, Spain is a nation that many fans will be interested to catch a glimpse of in action.

The feisty Anabel Medina Garrigues will return for the Spanish team, yet joining her in 2014 will not be her partner of last year, Fernando Verdasco, but instead Hopman Cup veteran Tommy Robredo.

And as Spain are looking to capture their fifth Hopman Cup and set of diamond-encrusted tennis balls, it’s a line-up change that’s perhaps for the better; while Verdasco slipped from 24th to 30th in the rankings during 2013, Robredo during the same period surged from outside the top 100 to inside the top 20, all at the remarkable age of 31.
