Casey Dellacqua has narrowly missed out on a spot in the women’s singles draw at Wimbledon after losing her final qualifying match on Thursday.

The Western Australian fell to German Carina Witthoeft 5-7 6-3 6-4 at Roehampton, following Ashleigh Barty, Anastasia Rodionova, Olivia Rogowska and Sacha Jones out of qualifying.

Dellacqua had defeated top qualifying seed Paula Ormaechea 6-2 6-1 on Wednesday, and earlier Valeria Solovyeva in the opening round in straight sets.

It leaves 14th seed Sam Stosur as the sole Australian woman in singles at Wimbledon.

Six Australian men will line-up in the first round from Monday, after Matt Reid and James Duckworth qualified to join Bernard Tomic, Lleyton Hewitt, Marinko Matosevic and Matt Ebden in the draw.
