With defending champions Czech Republic leading Australia 2-0 after day one of the Fed Cup World Group First Round tie the Aussies are preparing for a battle royal on Sunday at the Cez Arena in Ostrava.

World No.9 Sam Stosur will open for Australia in the potential decider against world No.8 Petra Kvitova, and a win would pit Jarmila Gajdosova against Lucie Safarova. Wins in both matches would see Australian Open doubles finalists Casey Dellacqua and Ash Barty play a live fifth rubber.

First time Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik talked up her team’s chances and believes a come-from-behind win is definitely within reach.

“I feel for my players [for their losses today] because both Sam and Jarka put themselves in great positions, with three 7-6 sets and very tight sets, and created a lot of opportunities for themselves,” Molik said.

“It’s fair to say our backs are up against the wall tomorrow, it’s all or nothing, and sometimes having the pressure off can help your players, because they know the only chance they’ve got is to really unleash, not hold anything within and really go up to the wall.

“We won’t be changing our best line up. They’re our best shot at winning this tie still and I have the confidence in both Sam and Jarka that they can turn things around tomorrow.

“We want to win. We go out there playing to win and that’s what I’m going to encourage my players to do, to step it up and take it to the Czechs and if we go down, go down in a blaze of glory.

“I have two incredible fighters in both Sam and Jarka so I truly believe they can get the job done tomorrow. And I think the beauty is that they each only have one match to focus on … they don’t have to think about the doubles and having to back up for another match so I want them to conserve their energies and lay it all out there on the line tomorrow in those matches.”
