Marinko Matosevic has gotten his week off to a great start after coming from a set down to beat Robin Haase at the Austrian Open on Monday.

Matosevic upset the Dutch sixth seed 1-6 6-3 6-2, wrapping up the first round encounter at the ATP 250 event in one hour and 37 minutes.

The Victorian smacked five aces and no doubles faults on his way to setting up a second round encounter with either Lukas Lacko or Dominic Thiem.

Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller was also forced to stage a recovery mission to beat Steve Darcis of Belgium and reach the second round.

World No.81 Muller dropped the first set in a tie-break but did not allow Darcis a single break point in the last two sets as he emerged a 6-7(3) 6-4 6-3 winner.
