Australian junior Andrew Whittington (Williamstown, Vic) has claimed his second ITF Grade 1 title in as many weeks after winning the 22nd Mitsubishi-Lancer International Juniors Championships in the Philippines.

Following an impressive victory against Jeson Patrombon (PHI) in the final of the 17th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup in Malaysia, 17 year-old Whittington continued his excellent form to once again upset the top seed and local favourite in straight sets, 6-2 6-3.

Whittington reached the final after also defeating fellow rising star Luke Saville (Barmera, SA) in the semifinals.

The win marked the young Victorian’s third international junior title since November last year. Whittington is a member of the AIS Pro Tour program and is currently ranked No.12 in ITF Junior rankings.
