Lleyton Hewitt has withdrawn from this week’s ATP Miami Masters after undergoing foot surgery last week.

The former world No.1 is unsure how long the injury would keep him on the sidelines but is still confident of competing at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

“My foot has been troubling me for sometime and I needed the surgery to enable me to compete at my best with the two Grand Slams coming up soon,” Hewitt wrote on his website.

Bernard Tomic is currently Australia’s sole entrant in the Miami main draw after receiving a wildcard but Marinko Matosevic could yet join him after advancing to the second round of qualifying.
