Sam Stosur and Lleyton Hewitt have both started with impressive wins to begin their campaigns in Dubai and Memphis respectively.

Stosur made a near-flawless start at the AUD$1.33 million Dubai Tennis Championships, thrashing Sara Errani 6-0 6-1 in their second round match on Wednesday.

The fourth seed was ruthless against her Italian opponent, taking just 55 minutes to reach the third round.

Fellow Aussie Jarmila Groth didn’t fare as well, falling to No.15 seed Alisa Kleybanova 6-4 6-3 in the second round.

At the ATP indoor event in Memphis, Hewitt ousted Taiwan seventh seed Yen-Hsun Lu 6-4 7-6(3) to book a date with Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the second round.

If successful, he will play either Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic or US top seed Andy Roddick in the quarter-finals.
