Local residents in Traralgon have enjoyed a fantastic weekend of tennis at the Latrobe City Loy Yang Tennis International, with Amir Weintraub and Julia Glushko of Israel claiming the men’s and women’s titles at the Australian Pro Tour event in Victoria.

No.2 seed Weintraub defeated Victorian Samuel Groth in straight sets to claim victory while Glushko defeated Sacha Jones of New Zealand in a competitive three set match on Sunday.

Earlier in the weekend, Groth defeated Erik Chvojka of Canada in the semifinals and Queenslander Michael Look in the quarterfinals to book his place in the final. In the women’s draw, Victorians Jarmila Groth and Sally Peers were both defeated by Jones, with Groth forced to retire hurt in her semifinal against the No.1 ranked female player in New Zealand.
