Former Australian Davis Cup player Leonard ‘Len’ Schwartz has passed away at age 97.

The South Australian tennis pioneer was the oldest living Davis Cup player, having represented the green and gold in 1938.

The entire tennis community, in particular those in his home state of South Australia, are saddened by the passing of a great man and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the extended Schwartz family.

Schwartz will be honoured at the Tennis SA Legends Lunch on Thursday 13 January 2011 alongside 20 other South Australian ‘Legends Club’ inductees.

Tennis greats John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl will be guest speaking at his luncheon.

Schwartz passed away peacefully on November 23.
