Suspension of Membership

If a membership lapses and a member remains in Canberra or the surrounds, this membership can not be suspended. Re-joining members will be required to pay the nomination fee, plus the annual (or pro-rata) membership subscription.

Only in exceptional circumstances will members be permitted to suspend their membership, and this is also at the discretion of the committee.

Such exceptional circumstances may include:

  • prolonged severe injury
  • government posting overseas
  • prolonged overseas trip

The club does not suspended members in situations such as:

  • pregnancy
  • work commitments
  • personal commitments
  • short holidays (less than 1 year) away from Canberra

Members should request the suspension of their membership (where possible) within two months of ceasing to be a member. Members are ineligible to claim a retrospective suspension.

All suspensions of membership will have a minimum period of one year, and a maximum period of three years.
