The top two seeds fell in the boy’s singles quarter finals at the Canberra Junior International, while the top girl’s seeds moved through to the semi finals. Today’s results leave the ACT’s Dimitri Morogiannis as the highest remaining seed in the boys draw.

Morogiannis again looked comfortable on his home courts, as he defeated qualifier Roger Rogowski in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. It sets up a semi final encounter with lucky loser Brock Meuris who upset number 2 seed Christopher Cox in straight sets. Meuris lost in the final round of qualifying earlier in the week, and only made it into the main draw after a late withdrawal. He has defeated the number 2 and 6 seeds on his way to the semis.

On the other side of the draw, number 5 seed Thomas Bosancic upset top seed Benard Nkomba in a tough three set match. Bosancic will now face wildcard Jeremy Taylor after he defeated Blake Clarke in straight sets today.

In the girls draw, top seed Violet Apisah moved through to the semis with a straight sets victory over Victoria’s Jessica Zaviacic. Apisah will face number 3 seed Selina Turulja from South Australia after she survived a close three set match with Madison Bishop. Kaitlin Staines who trains at the National Academy in Canberra also won through to the semi finals after defeating Renee McBryde 7-5, 6-4. She will face number 5 seed Amber Marshall who knocked out Brooke Milner today.

In the doubles top seeds Amber Marshall and Brooke Milner defeated Renee McBryde and Tenika McGiffin. They will now face Canberra’s Imogen Clews and Kaitlin Staines. The other semi sees Violet Apisah and Maria Vais take on Gabriela Sprague and Jessica Zaviacic. The 2, 3 and 4 seeds were also knocked out in the boy’s doubles, which will see top seeds Mayez Elrich and Benard Nkomba take on Blake Bayldon and Blake Clarke in the semis. Georgije Babic and Roger Rogowski will take on Chase Ferguson and Jeremy Taylor who upset number 2 seeds Dimitri Morogiannis and Thomas Bosancic today.

The boy’s singles semi finals will commence at 9.00am on Saturday followed by the girl’s singles.
