Paul

Tennis Official’s ACT would like to congratulate Paul Simper who has been selected to officiate at the Australia vs Kazakhstan Davis Cup World Group Quarter-Final Tie in Darwin. This is a great achievement, as Paul is one of only nineteen officials from across Australia to be selected for this event.

Paul has had a fantastic year as a line umpire, also being selected for Australian Open Women’s Final between Serena Williams v Maria Sharapova.

When asked about his Davis Cup selection Paul commented “It is an absolute honour to be selected for this important tie. I am excited and thrilled to be part of this great event. It is going to be an unbelievable experience and it goes to show that all the hard work has paid off.”

Paul has been a highly committed official since 1996 and has proudly umpired at many local tournaments, including the WTA Canberra Women’s Classic and the Australian Open.  Paul has also played a central role in training and mentoring of other officials.

There are many ways you can get involved as a tennis official – whether that’s getting out on the lines or being up in a chair, to helping out off-court at our local tournaments.

To find out how to become a Line Umpire, please come and join our introductory course on Saturday 18 July, 9am-1pm.  To register your interest and for more information go to:
