On Thursday the 14th of May, the ladies committee held their annual charity tennis tournament and luncheon at Belconnen and Melba Tennis Clubs. On a beautiful autumn day, the charity event managed to raise $1,600 for local charity Lifeline Canberra. Lifeline Canberra provides Telephone Crisis Support to the people of Canberra and the surrounding region.
The day would not of been possible withouth the support of Belconnen Tennis Club, Melba Tennis Club, Tennis Seniors ACT, The Tradies, the Ainslie Football Club, U & Co restaurant Kaleen, and the wonderful players who participated on the day. Thanks to Julie Howe and Sandie Roughton who did a great job running the day at Melba.
Earlier in the week, the ladies attended a dinner at Weston Creek for May Howard’s 60th birthday. May has been a great supported of tennis in the ACT and has been selected to represent Australia in the ladies 60’s team in France.
