3 September 2014 | Tennis ACT

By Simon Tankey

Tennis ACT recently held 2 Indigenous Tennis Days at Namadgi School and Ngunnawal Primary. Local coaches were joined by the National Indigenous Coach, Ian Goolagong who travelled from Melbourne to give the kids at each school an opportunity to pick up a racquet and be involved in Tennis for the day.

We visited Namadgi school on Tuesday 5th August and the school gave the opportunity to all kids from grades 1 – 6 to take part in a tennis session where they learnt the basic skills of tennis and also had an opportunity to hit with their class peers.

Ngunnawal Primary School gave the opportunity to their year 1 and 2 students to be involved with the Indigenous Tennis day on Wednesday 6th August. The sun was shining and the kids enjoyed a day filled with fun and excitement on the tennis courts.

Two great days were had by all and we were able to get over 500 kids involved over the two days!
