Getting Started in Pennant

To be able to play in a Tennis ACT pennant competition, you need to be a financial member of a Tennis ACT affiliated club.

All pennant competitions are outlined in the Tennis ACT Pennant Calendar. Once you have decided which competition you would like to play in, place your name on the relevant sign-up sheet in your clubhouse with your registration number, contact phone numbers and the grade that you would like to play. Contact your club captain who can advise which grade would best suit your ability and also advise you of the Club’s policy on team selection and grading.

You will need to make yourself available for the whole of the competition, otherwise you may sign up as a reserve only.

Once the clubs have finalised their teams, the entries are sent toTennis ACT. Approximately one week before the competition starts, your team captain will contact you and give you details of where you will be playing on the first week. Copies of the draws, competition rules and points ladders are available on the Tennis ACT website.

Make sure you turn up to the correct location ahead of time for a warm-up. Penalties can apply for late arrivals. Ensure you are wearing correct tennis attire. The team captains should ensure matches start on time to avoid incomplete matches.
