Review of Tennis Facilities in the ACT

Tennis ACT has 27 affiliated Tennis Clubs throughout the ACT and Region. Many of these clubs are located in the inner north and inner south of Canberra and have various levels of membership, court types and court numbers. Recently Tennis Australia released models for tennis facilities at the state, regional, sub-regional and community club level with the view to assisting tennis organisations develop their facilities and structures to comply with a national framework and help maintain their operating viability.

In addition, the ACT Government is keen to work with sporting organisations to determine their long term infrastructure needs to ensure that any government investments for facilities, including measures to reduce reliance on potable water are based on sound planning processes. This includes an assessment of future needs and the long term viability and sustainability of Tennis ACT’s member clubs.

As a result, Tennis ACT with the support of the ACT Government through Sport and Recreation Services, commissioned an independent review of all tennis facilities/clubs in the ACT to determine their long-term viability and establish a facilities strategy for tennis in the ACT and region.
