Aussies Love Tennis
For generations, a tennis court has been in reach of our homes, always ready to play or compete on. Every summer, the Australian Open reminds us to play more often.
Being at local courts shows how communities work. Girls and boys of all ages, abilities and backgrounds coming together for the simple act of play. Tennis Cares is about developing successful young people.
The Tennis Cares mission is to provide pathways and programs in schools and families to contribute to a vibrant community through the sport with tennis-related activities.
Young people in our society are most concerned about coping with stress, school and body image and we know that children who abandon organised sport between the ages of 8-10 are up to 20 per cent more likely to develop serious mental health problems before they reach high school. Tennis can make positive change and it is a sport that can make a much larger social contribution, in particular to our young people in society.
Community Grant Program for Affiliated Clubs
Tennis Cares is the national initiative for social change in our communities and now more than ever is the time for Tennis to provide a social contribution that extends well beyond the court.
Clubs are encouraged to look at their local projects that support children and youth specifically in line with the Tennis Cares mission: “To provide pathways and programs for young people in schools and families to contribute to a vibrant community through the sport using tennis–related activities.”
If your Club is affiliated and can make a difference, we urge you to apply for one of the community grants.
